On this dushera..this post.. specially for all my juniors :)
This is all about my Interview in Persistent and TCS
In spite of having one live KT, I was lucky enough to sit in a crowd of persistent apti…thnkz to our SGI director and trustee
Unbelivable!!!was only boy to crack the apti…was so excited..so nervous…..and so confident!!!
But Result….Rejected!!!
You know why…here are the mistakes that I made and you should avoid during any interview
My very good friend.. Sourabh was selected in company on basis of real time project made for a customer and inspired from him..I also made one billing software for customer and was overconfident that I will be selected in any company on basis of this.
First Technical Interview of my life….Persistent!!!
(Tip 1: Always knock the door before entering into panel room)
In excitement of showing my project, I entered in panel room with a volunteer caring my laptop in which my prject was.. :o
I started…sorry sir. It’s my habit that wherever I go, I always take suggestions from experts regarding my project…..he was looking at me in a weird manner
(Tip 2: Don’t show anyone (HR/Panel) anything (project,etc..) without permission..because you don’t know in which mood they are..and the thing in most of case is …they don’t even have time to see it!!!)
You can’t believe that He didn’t saw my project till end of interview :(
Then it started with Intro….which should cover ur Name,Projects Done..current projects…your strengts…your idol..etc
(Tip 3 : Don’t keep your hands on table…..itz not ur property…do proper gestures while interacting with panel)
(Tip 4 : During Intro…Don’t use myself..use I am…)
(Tip 5 : According to me..you should not say that your parents are your idol..coz they are idol for everyone before anyone…my friends…..they know that parents are always our first idol)
(Tip 6 : Never ask panel about his/her background…like his /her home town, from how long he/she is working in company, etc.)
I was working on one project related to virus and he suddenly handled his pen in my hand and asked
“What kind of viruses you think can be in this pen?”
I was blind….what to say…..I told things like…ink overflowing, we are shaking our pen again and again to make it work, etc…..and he asked do you think If I change the label of lexi pen with cello pen label..then it could be virus..I told..No it cant …and I started explaining and he started opposing
Before discutn can turn into debate…I agreed on his side and here I made mistake
After concerning many experts, I got answer that answer for this questn shd b lk dz…
“I am sorry sir, I havnt heard anywhr dt virus can be found in hardware…but if u r sayng,dn it m8t exist….coz u r experienced persn n u m8t hv faced situatn whr virus m8t be was n hardwr)
He asked about my fav. Subject n I told…data structure
So…here comz technikl one
1. what is data structure ?
2. what is stack and queue..give examles
3. What is meaning of relational in RDMS ?
4. Difference between DDL and DML ?
5. Types of searching and sorting ?
6. Quick sort pseudo code ?
7. Can we implement link list using stack…(explain it with reason) ?
8. Delete operation on stack ?
9. properties of oops ?
10. what is virus ?
11. what is router ?
12. difference between internet and intranet ?
13. applications of data structure ?
14. method overloading and overriding ?
15. join with e.g ?
16. array with e.g ?
hush…at last it ended with…do you have any questions?
And I asked…accrdng to u..wt r my area of improvmnt ?
And I got really a good answer……………….If u dnt know answer of anything..just say I dnt know
(b4 gng 4 intervw…when I was surfing on google abt persistent intrvw questz ..someone posted that u shld nt say I don’t know..u kan say I can try…bt in my case it went exactly opposite….so u shd decide wt to answer ..dpndng on situations)
I shd suggest..plz take proper rest b4r apti and intervw..it will solve half of ur problem..believe me..I experienced it
So..dz was all abt Persistent..whr I learned many lessons…and all my queries got cleared by many expertz…and one who playd very imp. Role in makng my concepts clear wz universal eductn..u shld nvr avoid such type of traings provided by collegez…else u will regret later
After that I got chance of interview in one company named BNC ..but there also rejected….coz I forgot one basic rule .. .After entering interview premises, forgot for some time that you are having any friends with you or talk vry less with frnd alrdy placd in that kmpny..behave in mature way my friends ..don’t do gossipz at all
After rejecting from two companyz…lost completely….but hope was still dr with feelings…Jo hota hai..ache k liye hota hai
And then got selected in three companies in a row…..IP Web Soft, TCS and Tech Mahindra
I am going to share my experience of TCS Interview…
This time I was prepared completely…what to do..what not to do..I know this time!!!
Here it is….
Panel : Introduce yourself
Me : I am Mohan….my project..my strength….etc
Panel : Can you draw infrastructure of your project
Me : I explained whole project with infrastructure diagram
(Tip : You should know about the various symbols you use in your project…ln my case which was networking project..I was knowing symbols of router,wifi,etc)
Panel : Tell me about ur hobby prjctz
I : This time..I haven’t repeated mistake…I explained my hobby projects and told them that If you permit, then I can show you my project (They stopped for a while and started starring at me with surprise ) yes…I have bought my project with me in my lape and if u permit..I can show u
Panel: Good Mohan….but ur projctz have this and this drawbacks
Me : That Drawbacks are my strengths…..I explained it with patience and confident
Panel: ok…Mohan.. Are you ok with 24*7 shift?
Me : Yes..I am comfortable with that
Panel: k… Do you knw abt kejriwal ?
Me : Yes… explained about recent news about kejriwal (I was in favor of kejriwal..coz he was impresng everyone frm his decisn at that tm….frndz…you have to be updated with most of recent news..not every news....but atleast news which are hot topic)
Panel: Who is ur fav. Politician
Me : Anna Hazare
Panel: But Anna Hazare is opposing kejriwal ..coz he dnt want kejriwal to form party and all. How u are supporting both..Anna Hazare as well as kejriwal
(with this answer ,he started arguing me….testing my patience..way of convencing them…and none other than my attitude)
Me : they both are right at there pnt of view
Panel: k… Tell us something about Modi
Me : Yes…I explained( here..he started comparing kejriwal and modi……here was the point were I was having risk of losing this great opportunity….but I was knowing ..how to handle this kind of stuff..thanks to universal education training again for that..they guided me a lot)
(before ..our discussion kn take shape of debate.. I ended my answer with this sentence….)
Me : Sir…In this case…no one is wrong…you like someone coz u like their way of working..I like other one coz I like that person way of working…we can’t say that he is right and other one is wrong…both are right…one in your view and other in my view..itz all about the way we look at person
Panel: hmmm… do you know abt the indian ship..that was lost few days ago
(here… I was knowing nothing about that….thing that I was knowing is that…I am honest and this is exact time to show my honesty)
Me : Frankly speaking…I don’t know
Panel: You dnt read news paper or watch news channels ?
Me: Yes I do…but our project deadline is nearer and I was busy in my project from last few days..so haven’t got time to watch /read news
Panel: k… do u hv any questions
Me : I am having two questnzz..I f u permit…
Panel:Ya..ya..sure
Me : At this point..what are ur expectatnz..what qualities u r serchng for..?
Panel : He Explained many things……what was ur next questn
Me : Actually..ur frst questn answered my 2nd questn….whch was…If I got selected…what will be my role and duties ?
After Technical…I got selected for HR round in which many questinz were simple and same except some…
HR : Do you have any live or dead KT
Me : Yes…My first and surely..last KT of my enginrng.…In 6th semester..but I had already cleared it in last sem (sem 7) .
Along with it..I scored 72% in this 7th sem
HR: Nice..but if you got selected..then u have to be all clear in 8th sem too
Me :Sure Mam
HR: u hv bond 4 two yrz..are you ok
Me : If TCS promise me to keep me in IT field…..then I am ready to sign bond even for five years
(she shocked..I rocked ;)
HR : Do you have any questions…..I asked same that in TR ..but in twisted manner ;)
HR: Ok Mohan..It was very nice to meet u……Someone will definitely call u in next week (I only know….How I controlled my feelings by hearing this answer ..coz everyone was getng answer as we... will let u know in next week..but in my case..it was purely positive)
Me : (with smile) Waiting 4 good response Mam
HR: Sure..
So….It was all abt my experience. Hope u liked it :)
Here are some few more tips fr u frndzz..
1.Important Apti Topics : Boats and Streams,Pipes,Calender,Trains,Permutation and Combination,Time Speed and Distance,H.C.F & L.C.M and Age
(Refer Agarwal Pub. for this OR If you are undergoing / already done with universal education training..then it is more than enough..coz they mostly cover apti from Agarwal pub. )
2.Refer Indiabix website ..from apti to HR related questions…it will help u a lot
3. Never try to lie..they will definately catch u
4.If you want to go for extra curricular ,then go for websites like letmeknow.in or knowafest.com , it helped me a lot and made my CV powerful
5.Coming to C –you should know file handling and pointers programs..especially this type of programz were asked in persistent
6.CV should not be more than two pages…if you have done lots of technical stuffs ,then its ok for 2 and half...You can have a look at my CV at my linkedin profile...it may help u to understand in better way :)
7.Many times you see your interview place is beautiful in infrastructure wise….don’t dare to take photos..it might create wrong impression
8.After entering interview premises, forgot for some time that you are having any friends with you..behave in mature way my friends ..don’t do gossipz at all…I experienced very bad incident :)
9.When u dnt knw answer …just say I dnt know…keep it simple
10. Last one…..always smile..it costs nothing :)
